How to Add Caller ID to Skype on iPhone
We all love talking on our iPhones right? What I don’t like though is paying the $0.35/minute long distance charges on the Rogers/Fido network. How to bypass paying through the roof long distance rates on Rogers/Fido? Easy! Install Skype on your iPhone if you haven’t already and make calls with your data plan (or WiFi)!
One of the problems with Skype is when you make an outgoing call to a landline/cellphone, the caller ID shows up as some random number. When your friends/family see this number they normally reject the call as they think you’re some sort of creepy telemarketer.
Well, I recently discovered that you can now add caller ID to Skype, so that it will display your cell phone number when you call someone! Some of you may already know this, but this is a great tip for those who haven’t enabled this feature yet!
How to Add Caller ID to Skype On your iPhone 2G/3G/3GS
To Add CallerID, you will require to have a SkypeOut balance on your account. The lowest amount to add on I believe is $10, but this is a good thing. You can use this balance to call countries outside Canada/USA–plus you will get precious, precious CALLER ID! 🙂
1. Login to your account at Skype.com
2. Click on the “Account” tab. Then click on the “Caller ID” tab.

3. Select “Canada” under the drop down menu and then enter in your mobile number

4. Skype will send you a SMS with a confirmation code. Enter that.

5. Wait 24-48 hours for Skype to send you an SMS confirmation.
I received my confirmation text about a day later (thanks for waking me up, Skype). Once this is done, Caller ID will be enabled. You can now call people from Skype, and it will show your number! Now calling $3/month unlimited to Canada/USA has gotten even better!
Let me know how this works for you! 🙂

i ve had skype number for a while now , plus if you jailbreak the iphone you can a purshase an app for 2 dollars and start using skype over 3g
This is awesome! Thanks iphonefan!!
Or you can get VOIPOver3G for free to do the same thing.
Just so everyone knows, in order to send that SMS, you must have a Skype Credit balance. SMS messages cost $$$ (not much $$$ though). If you have a monthly plan for calling anywhere in a specific country, SMS messages are not included.
You can only charge your account with, I believe, certain fixed amounts. So, you may have to place $15 of Skype credit on your account in order to get that SMS sent… and you may never really need to use that credit if you only call within your monthly coverage zone…
Just a heads up. 😉

YOU FIND ALL THE COOL STUFF
THANKS
That is true; you have to have some Skype credits in your account in order to cover the sms charge. Not sure if you can pay via PayPal as an alternative.
I always keep a few dollars in Skype credits just in case.
Don't use Skype, but thanks for the How To 😉
You mean 3G Unrestrictor for the iPhone 3GS: https://www.iphoneincanada.ca/3rd-party-applicat…
VoIPOver3G is only free for the iPhone 3G.
Cheers! I'm pretty happy about this addition to Skype too! 😀
Signing up on the $3/month plan to call anywhere in Canada/US does not include caller ID. My brother did that and the Caller ID tab is gray out. He had to add the 15 bucks credit, which then allows him to have the caller ID tab enable to put his cell phone number.
Anyone else has the caller ID enable without the SkypeCredit?
Same here…Caller ID is also gray out and have to purchase credits in order for this to work…
Mine works … now SCHAWEEEEET
Thanks Iphoneincanada.ca
Thanks for the tip. Now if we can use a Bluetooth headset with skype app, that would be great.
Why can't I dowwnload skype app for my iPhone here in Canada. It can't be found on the iPhone app site search and when I acces it from the skype website it says it's not available.
Thanks
